Hidden Tragedy: Underreporting of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses
This report documents the scope and consequences of underreporting workplace illnesses, injuries, and fatalities in the United States. It highlights the overwhelming evidence that workplace injuries and illnesses are "chronically and even grossly underreported” and provides an in-depth discussion of the causes and consequences of underreporting, citing underreporting as a contributing factor to OSHA’s failure to adequately ensure workplace health and safety.
