National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries in 2012 (Preliminary Results)



This report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics finds that a preliminary total of 4,383 fatal work injuries were recorded in the United States in 2012, down from a revised count of 4,693 fatal work injuries in 2011. However, increases in fatal work injuries can be found among certain groups and sectors. Fatal work injuries in the private construction sector increased 5 percent to 775 in 2012 from 738 in 2011, and fatal work injuries involving workers under 16 years of age nearly double.
